The Many Faces of Snowy Owls
By: Susan Luther Kiesel
In the winter of 2013-2014 there was an unusual migration, known as an irruption, of snowy owls in upstate New York. In the surprise visit, hundreds of snowy owls came down from the arctic tundra to winter across the northeastern United States and as far south as the Carolinas.
Photojournalist Susan Luther Kiesel captured hundreds of pictures of these beautiful birds and shares some of them here. Meet these magnificent creatures and get to know their many faces.
