Christmas: No hibernating… just celebrating!

Dear Valued Customers,

Christmas is days away and this bear has been counting down for weeks. To be completely honest, I switch gears into Christmas mode as soon as I see Santa bringing up the rear in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. I guess I am still a cub at heart when it comes to the holidays. For most bears this time of year is spent hibernating but that is not the case for me. Since I started working year round I phased out my hibernation patterns for the more main-stream approach of working full-time and spending my days off relaxing in my den. Since my den is surrounded by beautiful trees there was no need to cut one down for decorating purposes. I just ran an extension cord out and voila! A beautiful Christmas tree feet from my living space.

I have my own bear traditions when it comes to Christmas which include the traditional salmon dinner on Christmas Eve and the setting out of honey for Santa. I thought it would be interesting to learn some more about how many Americans celebrate. I love interesting facts as much as I love Christmas so I decided to share a few tidbits that I came across on www.history.com:

*The U.S. produces 1.76 billion candy canes each year.

*Americans send 1.5 billion Christmas cards annually.

*The U.S.Postal Service sells over 1.3 billion winter holiday stamps a year amounting to 10% of annual stamp sales.

*Each Christmas Season Americans buy 25-30 million real trees and 8-12 million artificial trees.

*American military installations overseas receive 30 million pounds of holiday mail each year.

*350,000,000= the number of future Christmas trees growing on U.S. farms.

From all of us at Old Forge Hardware, we hope the upcoming weeks are a joyous time spent surrounded by those you love. However you celebrate this holiday season remember to “paws” and feel thankful!

Sincerely,
