Dear Valued Customers,

The day after Thanksgiving marks the beginning of Adirondack Christmas on Main Street which runs from 11/25-11/27.  In this bear's humble opinion the Christmas season has gotten an unusually early start this year. Some radio stations and t.v. commercials are starting their Christmas push earlier and earlier with Halloween barely a memory before we are inundated with "holiday cheer". Here in the Adirondacks we offer an alternative to the hectic and commercialized black Friday at the mall.We believe you should enjoy your Thanksgiving with family and after the left-overs have been refrigerated, let us help you transition into the holidays. The build up to the holidays often results in weeks or even months of running around and chaos in order to have that "perfect" Christmas day. If you feel like you have been missing out on the holiday experience because you are too busy preparing for the holiday, maybe it's time to shift gears!?!

Instead of camping out in front of Wal-Mart for the latest video game maybe you'd prefer strolling through unique and quaint shops that have been decked out for the holidays. Instead of fighting for a parking space maybe you'd prefer to let an Adirondack Christmas train take care of your transportation and then hop on a Horse Drawn Wagon ride through Old Forge. Instead of waiting in line for a quick moment with the mall Santa maybe your child would prefer breakfast with Mr. and Mrs. Claus and meeting real sled dogs and reindeer. Instead of packed stores and greasy meals from a food court why not let your kids get their faces painted, participate in a reindeer run and then catch a special holiday matinee together.

New this year, Old Forge Hardware is proud to be one of the sponsors of Carillon performances in Point Park. This is the only musical act in the world that features a 4-Ton Medieval instrument called a Carillon. These free musical experiences will take place every hour on the hour Friday and Saturday from 1-5pm.

Consider getting your holiday shopping done without sacrificing the experiences that make the build-up to Christmas so special! Adirondack Christmas on Main Street is full of the tradition, magic, and fun that makes this community and the holiday season so unique. This season, instead of "clawing" your way through a chain store we invite you to "paws" and enjoy an Adirondack holiday!

Sincerely,
