Dear Valued Customers,

The first official day of Autumn is September 23rd but there is already a hint of change in the air. The school buses are back on the roads and soccer is back in full swing (or full kick). There is a hint of red sprinkled throughout the green leaves and the flow of traffic on Main Street has begun to settle after the summer rush. As the wind brushes past my bear snout I feel a slight chill and smell the unmistakable scent of leaves mixed with pine needles. The calendar may show it is still summer but the transition from summer to fall is well underway in this small Adirondack town.

Once the leaves begin to change colors the streets begin to fill with visitors anxious to take in the breathtaking scenery of an Old Forge Autumn. It seems like the transition from leaves peaking and falling happens in a flash so to guide visitors the Old Forge website posts a Leaf Report. Currently the report shows that 10% of the leaves have changed and that the predominating colors are green and burgundy. The report states that, "Colors are a little late changing this year due to the warm temperatures the past few weeks." Whether hiking a peak or sneaking a peek of the colors from the chairlift... check the report for the leaf peak! You'll be happy that you did!

As always we hope that your stay includes a stop to Old Forge Hardware. If you are unable to get away for a visit you can always shop online at www.oldforgehardware.com. Check our Specials tab for the latest deals available exclusively online. The September Specials include 10% off all yarn and 10% off newly released Adirondack books online. With a chill in the air it seems like the perfect time to snuggle under a blanket with a new book or to dive into a knitting project for the holiday season.

Until next time... remember to paws and enjoy the colors!

Sincerely,

Henry the Hardware Store Bear
